Does anyone know why Trader Joe’s on De La Vina in SB is closed? They’re supposed to open at 8 and I just tried to go (9:45am Tuesday) and there’s a sign on the door that says “closed, sorry for the inconvenience.”

Because the home owners pay for the parking spot in front of their home on a public street?
If they feel so strongly, form a neighborhood council to pay for the street and sewer repairs and make it private. What, too much money? Then deal with parking on a public street like the rest of us.
PitMix, ever heard of the city SLIPP program? – Homeowners now do have to pay for their sewer lines that meet up with the city’s main line. An easy $25,000 extra cost for each homeowner. Since streets get paved only every 20-30 years (if that), and in this case only after residents agreed to additional taxes with Measure C, you could say homeowners are already now paying for their own sewers and street paving. So yes, we do own the streets in front of our own houses. City abdicated caretaking for this formerly pubic property years ago, and is now spending our additional public revenues only on themselves.
Just bring back Standard Brands to that location and all should be well!
General, have you ever been to TJ’s? I go weekly and tofu and kale rarely enter my consciousness. Sweeping statements like that, even said in jest, don’t reflect well on you.
ah, too bad it’s not closing for good. Considering the parking mess TJ’s has created for the Samarkand neighborhood behind it, many look forward to TJs at this location shutting down and moving somewhere that would offer adequate parking. You can’t even get through in one lane when you turn on Samarkand Drive. Most of the street parkers are TJs employees. Oh sure, when they got their permit, the staff was supposed to walk to work. What a joke. Alas, that is never the TJs business plan.
What? TJ’s has been there for 15+ years. You’re just like one of those people who moves near an airport and gets mad at the sound of planes flying above. Laughable and frankly, idiotic.
