Now that the French crepe restaurant on Anacapa and Ortega is gone, where do we get crepes in this town?

Alessia Patisserie on Canon Perdido. Some of the best you'll find around, and their croissants are great too!

Where to get Crepes?

2nd and 3rd Alessia Patisserie & Cafe located at 134 E. Canon Perdido (between Anacapa & Santa Barbara and between Rudy's and Handlebar Coffee). The serve a wonderful variety of baked goods that are guaranteed to "bring you back to Europe" (assuming you've had baked goods in Europe). Incredible breakfast menu, buttery/flakey croissants, and be sure to try a rum raisin roll or lemon-raspberry tarts to eat there, or to take home and have later...order more than one for sure! Service is exceptional, and you will feel at home every time you go to Alessia Patisserie & Cafe! You may have to wait in line, but....definitely worth the wait!

Sure wish I knew where I could buy fresh Semmel, the Austrian breakfast roll. Any ideas, guys?

IHOP does a fairly good job with their crepes - several versions to select - on the menu under International selections.

IHOP world famous, Swedish Crepes with lingonberry, a staple of northern and eastern European cuisine from the Arctic tundra. Follow with rhubarb juice and Elderflower juice or a nice Rhine wine.

I've never eaten there, but to be helpful: 134 E Canon Perdido St, Santa Barbara
And the hours are 7 a.m. - 3:00/3:30 p.m. (depending on the day)

Speaking of IHOP... I only had one when JK Frimples was open, but I will remember that chocolate 'Frimple' until the day I ....am no longer here. If there is a heaven, they will serve all you can eat Frimples there...for free.

We carpenters reported to JK Frimples for a midnight shift of demo on the kitchen fryline. They were still serving food and informed us that they never close. We demolished the ceiling with clouds of drywall, attic and rat feces, dust (we were masked) while they continued to serve food. Absolutely disgusting, illegal and I never ate there again.

It’s understood and pleasure for us to have a new, quality bakery in town, however there’s no mention on Alesia’s website or menu of Napoleons or crepes (specifically) suzettes. Will check it out in person tomorrow. Interesting information about IHOP, as I would’ve never thought of it for crêpes. Will try it out and hope it isn’t overly sweet.

1:37 am--Not likely Alessia's would serve crepes suzette, those are quite different from regular crepes. Not many places serve those anymore, they have gone the way of baked Alaska! Crepes are easy to make at home....not as much fun, maybe, as in a cafe or restaurant....

Alessia's has to go head to head with Renaud's for anything "French". Renaud's sets the standard for high quality pastry and baked items in this town. Let's see what this new comer can do in comparison.

Yeah..I was gonna say;
"Any water-front public restroom",
But then I re-read the title.

They're easily made at home, butyou're aware of the authentic taste, you'll have ot have identical ingredients. U.S. flour and dairy supplies are mostly corporate uniculture: whatever's easiest, cheapest to grow that has a long shelf-life. That involves developing a few food varieties that yield well with insecticides, chemical fertilizers and such andthe industrial farming of animals.

Gelsons sells Lunds pancake mix that easily makes Swedish pancakes, very thin and look like crepes to me.

Gelson's also sells Belgian Boys crepes in the frozen dessert area.

Just heat, put your own fillings (jams, jellies, etc.) in, roll 'em up and eat! Easy, acceptable alternative to homemade or bakery offerings.

Thanks for helpful recent responses. Alessia has lemon hollandaise crepes and no napoleons.

I hate to say it but Ficelle in Ventura makes the best and have a Cordon Bleu chef....enjoy but avoid traffic.
