The Santa Barbara Police Department announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the strong-arm robbery of a victim at the Ross retail store last year.

On December 27, 2019, police responded to a robbery investigation at Ross on Upper State Street.  A female victim was struck and her was money taken.  Multiple suspects fled in a getaway car that was abandoned some distance away.

Santa Barbara Police Detectives pursued various leads.

On February 12, 2020, Santa Barbara Police Detectives arrested Ahdarah Garcia-Rasay, age 21, for accessory to a robbery. A warrant was sought and issued for Paul Catono Murray, age 19. Evidence collected suggested Murray was the principal aggressor in the robbery.  Detectives determined he had fled Santa Barbara shortly after the incident.

On May 7, 2020, Murray was arrested by law enforcement in Stockton, CA for his warrant in this case, as well as an additional charge for resisting arrest.

He was extradited to Santa Barbara and booked in Santa Barbara County Jail for robbery, committing a felony while out on bail, and battery.

  1. The DA office: “this pair is an example that we need a stronger system of justice and punishment to curtail further criminal actions.”
The PD office: ” this pair is a prime example of how society has failed our youth and we must protect them from any type of unwarranted punishment.”

  2. And how many white corporate criminals involved in all these financial crimes have gone to prison? They who have robbed money and jobs from people. The bank that for years continues to be caught in criminal behavior that gets only a slap on the wrist and they continue in thievery. That does not excuse the crimes of the people in the posting, but where is the outrage for the big time criminals?

  3. I think there should be an extra penalty for out-od-towners who come here to steal; it shows criminal intent & planning. That’s like the difference btw murder and premeditated murder, laying in wait.

  4. LUVADUCK – why is there more intent from an out of towner than a local person? If you plan a crime, you have intent, regardless of the location. The guy fled SB, doesn’t say he went home to his town or anything, so he could have been from here. But either way, intent is intent, no matter where you spawn the intent.
