Santa Barbara’s Kayla Day Scores Big Win at French Open

Kayla Day, the 23-year-old professional tennis player from Santa Barbara, has just hit a career high at the French Open.

Ranked #138 in the world, Day bested #20 ranked Madison Keys in a second round match at the prestigious global tournament by 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

This was an epic re-match between the two Americans as Day lost to Keys in the second round U.S. Open match in 2016.

In another entry for the history books, this is the first time Day has won a match against a top 20 rank player since she turned pro in 2017.

Day who had to qualify for the event before defeating Kristina Mladenovic in the opening round.

She will now make her first third round appearance in a Grand Slam main draw against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia.
