Rocky Pine Ridge Sierra Club Hike

By Robert Bernstein

We had nine people on my Rocky Pine Ridge Sierra Club hike last Saturday.

Here are all of my photos!

Everyone had an enjoyable experience in this spectacular and unique spot.

Rocky Pine Ridge is one of my favorite places to bring out of town visitors and one of my favorite hikes overall. Not too strenuous, yet with spectacular views and the special joys of climbing over, under and between rocks and among pine trees.

Many people call this area at the top of Gibraltar Road “The Rock Garden”.

The hike is only about two miles round trip, but it is deceptive. There are many challenges and I was impressed that everyone wanted to go out to the very end of the ridge and made it with no trouble at all. As usual, members of the group were eager to lend a hand to each other when needed!

One other note: On the hike was Katie Saxon who is the music director for an Early Music group that I perform with. She was a fearless and bold hiker!

Please come see and hear our group perform at the French Festival on Saturday July 15 at 11AM!
