It’s my wife’s birthday today and I promised we’d go somewhere to celebrate and get out of the house for a little while. When searching for places to go, I noticed a lot of businesses are closed and thought other edhat readers would be interested to know and could maybe add to the list.

- Santa Barbara Zoo: (Don’t worry, for you animal lovers they posted this statement: “Though we are in no immediate danger from the Thomas Fire and outside the evacuation zone, the Zoo is closed today. Animal Care staff and security are on site and wearing masks designed for smoke. Animals remain inside or have access to inside areas. “We drill for and are prepared for emergencies,” said Zoo Director Nancy McToldridge. “We are taking all precautions to ensure the safety of our animals and our staff. The winds are nonexistent here and the forecast is favorable so far. Our thanks go out to the firefighters and first responders on the front lines working to stop the fire that threatens our community.“)
