Fungus Identification?

This strange fungus appeared in my yard overnight. A quarter is show for size comparison. It smells like fishy – bleach. Small flies are in the open (green) end. Maybe it’s a nautical fungus with green (starboard) and red (port) sides. Anybody have a serious idea?
