Flying from the Carp Salt Marsh toward the East recently, the air was clear and colors exquisite. Turning toward SB the 101 project is coming along, and at upper-right, you can see them starting on the new section of bridge lanes. Next are two adjacent views of the San Ysidro Inn flood repairs (southern view in the white inset at the bottom).

Casa de Maria hasn't changed much, with no major construction in the process yet. Maybe after this rain, the northwestern Goleta area might begin shifting from brown to green. A new building phase is in process SW of 101 and Los Carneros, including apartments. The view to Point Conception was also beautiful, though to our surprise it had light haze even after a strong wind off the ocean.

We are so lucky to have that marsh. Thanks, John, for the photo., and reminder.

Golly, what interesting photos, thanks John. I especially like the first one with the Carp Marsh. Years back a developer wanted to put about 700 condos there, much prettier with the restoration of the marsh. Good thing it's not Goleta or they likely would have gone in. Seems they've never seen a development they don't like.

Go easy throwing shade on Goleta. There are quite a few large parcels the developers would love to get their hands on that the community has fought against and currently prevails. As yet Naples remains unspoiled as does More Mesa and the original Hollister Ranch (the one in photo #5). And you guys done good preserving the Bluffs too.

Cachuma & Jameson are up only 0.2% & 1.5% respectively, despite 2-3 inches of rain in the watershed area. Hope subsequent storms can fill them with water and not silt. Anyone seen reports of damage?

Some waterfalls raging in the hills I guess. Tecolote Cyn rain gauge at Camino Cielo in the Whittier burn area registered a 4.35" storm total so far, with most of it around 2am. East along the ridge is over 4" to due North of downtown, then drops to around 3" in the Thomas burn area to the County line. Hope everyone's ok.

Salt Marsh colors are starting to emerge even then, and it's going to be fun to see if/how they change after this rain. I like how that pic toward the East and the last one from Goleta to the West, bracket all the attractions between. As usual, the pix only begin to convey how beautiful it was. To clarify, the split one at SY Inn is from the East across the creek toward the West bank and the lower inset is the lower (Southern) part of the creek. The white "wall" to right of the chapel in the Casa de maria pic is still plastic covering the missing wall in what's left of the cafeteria/kitchen.
