Do edhatters have a favorite television show they've been streaming since the quarantine? I'm open to any genre, something interesting that will keep my attention. Thanks all!

So much to choose from on Hulu and Netflix. All caught up with Gotham, The Flash, Green Arrow, The Walking Dead, Z Nation, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Avengers, Supergirl, Orange Is The New Black. Still waiting for season 10 for The Walking Dead on Netflix and a couple of other shows on this list. Still need to watch the new season of Black Lighting.

Yes, of course: Bosch. And also Goliath (Billy Bob Thornton). Two really different series that I enjoyed greatly: Drifters (British TV, 2013-2016) and Mad Dogs. Drifters is loaded with profanity and sex, but utterly hilarious. Mad Dogs seems like trash at first and then just gets better and better-----but . . . it is "different."

Just watched S3 of Ozark (Netflix), which is great. Looking forward to S5 of Bosch (Amazon) which comes out in a few more days. Still have Narcos: Mexico S2 in my queue, but currently working my way through Gotham (Netflix - originally FOX), since I missed it when it originally aired. The Expanse is great too, though I was a bit disappointed what Amazon did with S4...just doesn't feel the same. Speaking of sci-fi, anyone here watched Star Trek: Discovery or Picard? I've read that some old school ST fans are not so pleased with these new additions.

And also Fleabag, Sex Education, After Life, My Brilliant Friend (*****), The Office (UK), Extras (Ricky Gervais), and of course The Simpsons.

“The Last Man On Earth” (2015) is great — it stars Will Forte who, as the result of a viral pandemic in 2020 (i know!!) is seemingly the only person left on the planet. With January Jones, Mary Steenburgen, Laura Dern, and more. GREAT SHOW!! 4 seasons.

On Netflix try Outlander. I’m totally hooked. Other good stuff on Netflix are the anime from Studio Ghibli. Frontier was great if you like blood and gore and a good story. Heartland is great family fare if you’re into horses. Grace and Frankie is priceless for laughs, as is Mrs Maisel, both had me rolling. If you don’t mind subtitles, try the many police/murder dramas Sweden, France, Denmark, Finland, Iceland. Bordertown, Deadwind, Hinterland, The Forest, Marcella, The Valhalla Murders

I liked "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" on Amazon Prime, but it's not for kids. So funny!

Disney Plus account is free for one year if you have the Verizon Unlimited plan. Everything is rated PG13 or less, so great to let the kids choose whatever they want. Otherwise it's $7 per month. Frozen 2 is on there.

Well, I really like it, a little goofy, provides comic relief, and it's clever. PSYCH is the title, Amazon Prime, no passport needed. Longest running show on USA Today, eight seasons, 13-15 episodes per season. Ran from 2006-2014 so of course they use flip phones. Spot on for that time.

Thanks for letting me know about Vancouver. Thought all of it was Santa Barbara. I'm going to look for the pineapple!

Oh I mistakenly said that USA Today made the show. It was USA Network. AND, how could I forget to add this? IT'S FILMED IN SANTA BARBARA!

And, look for all of the Santa Barbara scenes. Psych was supposed to take place in Santa Barbara, so a lot of outside shots were filmed here, including the whole opening sequence. The show was actually filmed in Vancouver, however. LOVE Psych. Look for the pineapple in each episode (hidden very well). Psychic (or real) detective (I've heard it both ways...:)). Enjoy!

"Spiral" on Prime. French police drama (subtitles) . Very popular in Europe/Oz/NZ. 6 seasons. Shows a very gritty side of Paris. For delightful 'lite' fare, I love Schitts Creek.

On Netflix there is "Anne with an E" based on Anne of Green Gables. Also old Monty Python episodes and movies. Some interesting documentaries. HBO has Bill Maher and John Oliver.

Thanks all for the interesting ideas. Our household is considering subscribing to Amazon Prime but we hit a snag in that Amazon dropped support for our 2016 vintage Sony Blue Ray device. We are again victims of the obsolescence cycle of computer controlled devices. I'm currently looking into upgrade options with the goal of getting a device that hopefully will be supported for a reasonable time frame.

If you have a Goleta library card, you can watch 10 free movies a month from Kanopy. Unfortunately, the generic web browser on our smart TV doesn't support copyrighted material, and we don't want to watch on the computer, but they have some good stuff on there.

You can plug an HDMI cable from your computer to the TV and play it on your computer, but have the display and sound come from the TV.

On Netflix, The Kaminsky Method, Shtisel, and Unorthodox -- but be warned, there aren't very many episodes, and we ran out before we realized that, so ration them. Also,I had to laugh -- I noticed in the Cox channel guide earlier that ESPN was showing the 2004 National Spelling Bee. You know the sports channels have to be getting desperate!

I second Fleabag, Catastrophe, Grace and Frankie, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Add: Ricky Gervais' After Life (Season 1 on Netflix now with Season 2 premiering April 24), Rectify, and The Good Place. For nature lovers: Planet Earth and Earth at Night.

I forgot about Vikings too. One of the goriest, bloodiest and most violent shows being streamed. My friends in Norway have mixed feelings about it. But compelling. And it did lead us to BBC's Robin Hood (which is completely different and family fun).

Earlier in the year we binge watched "The Expanse", "Man in the High Castle", "Carnival Row", and "Das Boot" (the series) on Amazon. Recently we've pivoted towards more light-hearted fare - BBC's "Robin Hood" and "Three Musketeers" on Hulu. "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" has also been fun (Hulu/NBC) .

“The Expanse” and “The Man in the High Castle” on Amazon are for distancing your mind from day-to-day grunt work. I call “The Expanse” scientific fiction for its depiction of the future.

Thanks for the reminder about "Call the Midwife" (BBC) - we left off at season 4. Another period drama from that time is "Foyles War" (ITV).

“Broadchurch”, the Brit version of the murder mystery with Olivia Colman, will definitely hold your attention. On Netflix. Also, “Inside No. 9” - another Brit series. Each episode is a stand-alone story - some quite bizarre, others make you think, but all are well-written. Ranges from humor to horror. First 2 seasons avail. on Hulu, 5 seasons avail. on BritBox if you have a subscription.

Ozark, season 3. The people are not very nice (understatement) but the characterization and acting are great. For something sweet and light-hearted, Detectorists. British. Might be hard to find, but it’s so worth it! Also, Flowers, about a very dysfunctional English family, funny and also heartbreaking. Olivia Coleman is in that one.

"Hillary" on Hulu. Fascinating if you don't mind "the politics." "Young Sheldon" on Amazon Prime.....slightly irreverent toward Christianity, but in a funny way. "Transparent" on Amazon Prime....comedy/drama about male-to-female gender transition.
