The Santa Barbara Earth Day festival, presented by the Community Environmental Council (CEC) and CarpEvents, has been a cherished community event for 54 years and is one of the largest Earth Day festivals on the West Coast. Santa Barbara’s reputation as a pioneer in the environmental movement draws tens of thousands of participants to the festival to engage in inspirational art, food, music, education, and celebration.

Entertainment Highlights

We have an incredible lineup of local bands including Cornerstone (reggae), The Last Decade (alt-rock), False Puppet (‘90s), all-female groups Queentide and The Vonettes, UC Santa Barbara band Glen Annie, local Grateful Dead cover band Heads All Happy Hour, and local singers and songwriters.

Environmental Hero Awards

SUNDAY, APRIL 28 | Noon on the Main Stage
Honoring Alejandra Warren, Plastic Free Future

CEC is pleased to announce Alejandra Warren as the recipient of its 2024 Santa Barbara Earth Day Environmental Hero Award. Warren is the co-founder and Executive Director of Plastic Free Future (PFF), a California-based nonprofit committed to the reduction and elimination of plastic pollution through promoting reusable alternatives, with a focus on outreach to underserved and systemically excluded communities. Alejandra is also an NGO delegate to the United Nations Treaty on Plastic Pollution.

Kids Corner & Family Passport
Interactive fun for kids of all ages: arts and crafts, musical performances, storytelling, face painting, eco-activities, and a bilingual Family Passport that promotes kid-friendly activities throughout the park.

Climate Action Stage
Check out inspiring talks on climate action by the Pesticide Free Soil Project, the Sierra Club, and others. Connect with CEC program staff and learn about how you can purchase or lease an affordable EV, eat climate-smart, take action on climate policy, and more.
