Sunday, September 29, is International Coffee Day and we're celebrating the magic elixir that give us energy every morning.

Americans drink 400 million cups of coffee a day, and based on the number of coffee shops in town, Ed is guesstimating that many of those cups are consumed here.

Coffeeshops have become much more than just places to get hot bean water, they're meeting spaces, study hubs, and launching pads for burgeoning writers.

Vote on your favorite local coffee shop below, and we didn't include it, feel free to speak your mind in the comment section (we know you will anyway).

Where are the deals?

Some national coffee chains are jumping on the deal bandwagon and maybe a few local joints will too. Here are the deals we've found so far:

7-Eleven: For a limited time with the 7Rewards app, get any size coffee for $1. Download the free app at www.7-eleven.com/7rewards.

Caffee Luxxe: Enter a giveaway to win a Chemex Brew Kit (see below)

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf: Buy a bakery item that costs at least $2 and receive a 16-ounce hot or cold coffee at participating sites.

Dunkin' Donuts: On Sunday, buy one hot coffee and receive a free one for someone else.

Peet's Coffee: From Friday through Sunday, purchase one pound of beans at 25% off and get a free drip coffee or tea at participating Peet’s coffeebars.

Whole Foods Market: The grocery chain has teamed up with High Brew Coffee and together are offering free cans of the coffee with a coupon Sunday. Get a coupon at www.highbrewcoffee.com

Coupons.com: Through Monday, get up to $2.50 in cashback deposited in your PayPal account with the savings app’s National Coffee Day rebate. Download the app, then look for "Special Offers" in the store list, tap the offer and purchase a single cup of hot coffee at select stores by 11:59 p.m. PST Monday, Sept. 30. Then you have until Oct. 3 to submit the itemized receipt on the app. Participating restaurants include Dunkin’, 7-Eleven, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Dunkin’, 7-Eleven, Tim Hortons, Peet’s Coffee, Subway, Burger King, Taco Bell, Denny’s, Carl's Jr. and IHOP.

Our home coffee is excellent, no need to go out. However, my husband gives me a gift card for Starbucks every Xmas so mostly I use it on road trips. Occasionally I get a fancy drink at our local Starbucks after shopping at Albertsons, so easy to pop in.

Always Peet's.
But for a truly local great cafe I gotta say Good Cup, Daily Grind, French Press/Dune, and Caje are mighty fine.
