Red emergency flare at 8:35 pm in the channel

It appears a red emergency flare went off high into the sky at 8:35pm on Sunday. The flare was seen from Carpinteria when looking towards Santa Barbara. Due to the vantage point, it’s unclear whether it was fired out in the channel in front of Summerland or Montecito areas.
