I can’t keep up with the back and forth between the city governments. Marijuana is legal in California, but why the hold up to getting the local dispensaries open? What is the current status and when can we expect these local businesses to start? And is anyone welcome to go in and shop?

Whew! It’s a good thing that the Santa Barbara City Council already limited it to 3 within city limits!
They certainly haven’t wasted any time taxing consumers.
So, I guess, my statement that I do, in fact, get a sore throat when I am around people smoking marijuana wasn’t popular, and downvoted. And, why should there be smoking of it in areas that one can’t smoke cigarettes in. It is still smoke, and can cause problems for anyone breathing it. Not limited to aore throats, but breathing problems as they do from any smoke (including from forest fires) as well. I have friends who also get sore throats from marijuana, and have other reactions to breathing the second hand smoke from it. I try to get away from it as fast as I can, which isn’t always easy. Sometimes it has occurred in a confined public area.
My friend with cancer tried it, and her pain got worse. She was surprised, and dreadfully disappointed. The more she increased the dose, the worse her pain was. She deduced that it wasn’t going to help her, after she tried different methods for many weeks. She finally got relief and help from a pain specialist.
I fully support legalization but I wouldn’t want to see one on every block. Hopefully, the cities can limit the number of dispensaries and keep them reasonably out of busy commercial neighborhoods. Also, I’m getting kinda sick of smelling pot everywhere these days. People seem to think that because it’s now legal they light up everywhere. It’s not cool to smoke your joint on the beach, trail, or park. It would be nice to see the police starting to enforce the supposed no-smoking policy that was recently enacted. /rant (Man… I must be getting old)
Drink more water; it will help your throat, especially if you add lemon and or honey.
