Whatever happened to the Goleta Valley Days Festival?

I believe it started in 1971 called “R&D Month” for the Research and Development Companies in Goleta and then volunteers took it over and turned it into a nonprofit running the program through at least the 90s.

  1. I don’t know why it ended, but I have good memories of being in the Goleta Valley Days parade! It started on Calle Real near Carrow’s (I think?), and went all the way over the overpass and down Hollister ending at the Community Center – a pretty long route for any band/drill team/baton twirler. There were always big Igloo coolers with McDonald’s “orange drink” and water at the overpass, and an ice-cream cup at the end of the parade. Good times. 🙂
