Firefighters are responding to two small brush fires in the Santa Maria area.
At 4:52, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department received a call of a vegetation fire near W. Betteravia Road near Sinton Road in the Santa Maria Valley. A second fire was located near Betteravia and Ray Roads.
These fires have the potential for five combined acres and are burning in heavy brush, said Captain Daniel Bertucelli.
Firefighters are on the scene along with dozers, hand crews, and an air response.

Brush fire near West Betteravia at Ray Road in Santa Maria. I heard something about a propane tank nearby.
Fire is burning 50 feet off roadway near rail cars carrying propane..
