Solstice Dining at Pascucci/Workshop Open

By Robert Bernstein

Santa Barbara Summer Solstice 2022 is off and running! The Workshop is now open at the corner of Ortega and Garden Street!

The Parade will take place on Saturday, June 25 at Noon! Less than a month away!

And Pascucci hosted a fundraiser dinner this week. Volunteer waiters in costume served a steady stream of happy customers… and the proceeds all were donated by Pascucci for Solstice! Here are my photos!

We arrived at the start around 5:30PM because we had to rush off after dinner to catch John Cleese at the Granada Theater later in the evening. When we arrived early, we were surprised how many people were already at Pascucci.

We were greeted by former Solstice Executive Director Claudia Bratton, along with Executive Assistant Penny Little, artist Christine Dawn and a volunteer server.Out in front my wife Merlie and I posed with dazzling greeters and artists Katie Beccio (L) and Ana Fagan, with artist Geoffrey Barber between them.

Ana and Katie posed again with some other volunteer servers.

Inside, Gretchen Graham (L) posed with current Solstice Executive Director Robin Elander.World famous DJ Darla Bea was spinning tunes for all to enjoy!

Sarah York Rubin served artist Phyllis Chiu and her partner

Solstice artist extraordinaire Pali X Mano posed with his new bride Raven along with Darla Bea who also was DJ at their recent joyous wedding at the Solstice Workshop!

Radio personality David Hefferman posed with the 2022 Solstice t-shirts now on sale. The 2022 theme is “Shine” and this really does shine!

Server Tiffany Story posed in her fabulous outfit as she rushed to deliver her precious cargo of drinks!

Our server was Natalie, in green in the center, and she gave us speedy service with a smile!

Krystal Love has been helping Solstice for many years and she was keeping the money flow on track that evening with her sparkly make-up on!

As we rushed off to see John Cleese, we met Solstice multi-talented Riccardo Morrison with Ana Fagan. Riccardo has had many roles over the decades, notably as technical director, figuring out how to build the impossible and have it last through the entire parade!

The Solstice Workshop is open at 631 Garden Street! (Corner of Garden & Ortega)

Workshop Hours are:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 3 to 8PM
Saturday and Sunday, Noon to 6PM

As it gets closer to Solstice, people are there pretty much all the time!

Come by and get inspired! Maybe join an ensemble and help build things! You don’t have to be a creative genius. It is all about having fun and learning!
