Small Brush Fire Near Homeless Camp Extinguished Near Orcutt

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a small brush fire in Orcutt shortly after 5:00 pm Thursday.

Crews arrived south of Clark Ave near Highway 135 and discovered a 50 x 50 foot fire, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The small vegetation fire erupted in a homeless encampment, said fire officials.

Forward progress was quickly stopped and there were no homes threatened or injuries reported.

The cause remained under investigation.
