At about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night, Carpinteria-Summerland Fire responded to a structure fire on the 1000 block of Cindy Lane in Carpinteria.

Firefighters first on-scene reported smoke showing from a large, single-story commercial building.

All occupants of the building evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters called for a hazmat response due to potentially hazardous chemicals on site. Within 45 minutes, firefighters fully knocked down the fire and mitigated the hazmat concern.

Carpinteria-Summerland Fire was assisted by Montecito Fire, Santa Barbara City Fire, Ventura County Fire, AMR and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters will remain on scene until at least 10 p.m. completing mop-up and decontamination work.

Cindy Lane was closed at Mark Avenue. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
