Semi-Truck Catches Fire Near Santa Maria

A semi-truck caught fire on Highway 101 near Santa Maria on Saturday.

At 5:41 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded about one mile north of Palmer Road, just south of Orcutt, for a reported vehicle fire.

When crews arrived they discovered the brakes on a semi-truck had caught fire. 

There was no extension to the cab or cargo, and no injuries were reported. 

The slow lane of Highway 101 was blocked from approximately 30 minutes while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
