Scanner Reports 4-25-18

By Roger the Scanner Guy

I read a lot of different things on Facebook and belong to different groups and some of the groups are Citizen crime-fighting groups. Concerning the recent homicide in Ventura, one comment stated that people are going to start carrying guns at the beach, another said: “Start?” As if some folks already do. That reminded me of something that happened to me many years ago on the beach here in Santa Barbara that scared the hell out of me. At the time I was walking on the beach with friends one night when we heard something suspicious and thought someone was being hurt. It was just past Cat beach near Leadbetter, there was a little hill and someone was on the other side, we went to look. Big Mistake this high school kid jumps up with a gun in his hand starts yelling at us but was pointing the gun at me, though I was scared I was also very angry. He was making out with a girl and thought we were going to attack them. I can’t remember what he was yelling at me he was threatening to shoot though and I thought for sure he was going to. It did not keep me quiet, I was angry too and told his little rump off. I have always had a hard time keeping my mouth shut when I should. In the end he put the gun away. I told him he should go somewhere else if he and his gal wanted to “Make it” because there were a lot of folks walking on the beach that night.

I did not call the cops on him because he was a kid that made a mistake,(I have made many, many mistakes) I did not want to mess up his life maybe I was wrong and should have called the police but I didn’t. I’m glad the little shit did not shoot me it woulda most likely killed me and no one would have ever known I was on an innocent walk with friends, he probably would have shot them too. At the time I was a Bible Thumping Christian none of that would have mattered there would have been only his story considering the fact he had an SBHS Letter jacket. I’m ASSuming he would have become a hero for shooting us, as one of us were homeless and all three former offenders. In our new world I can see Homeless Folk along with Former offenders not being allowed on the beach. Though I no longer go to the beach because of my nerve damage it is quite painful on uneven surfaces. When will it all end? We might all be packing before it’s all over maybe it’s just best not to go anywhere, anymore since violence can happen anywhere: the Waffle house, the Movie House, even walking down the street. Pretty soon people will be getting attacked in their own homes, then where will they go? I know that happens too there really is nowhere in this whole world where we can be a hundred percent safe. I’m not a tough guy but I have been though a lot of shit. I have had guns pulled on me, knives, been cut, beaten half to death, seen people killed and die in accidents, and took a life protecting my own. I am in no means anything more than anyone else if I would have stayed home like a good kid instead of running away and getting involved with other assholes besides myself more than likely I would not have experienced any of that crap now that I’m an old fart I see no reason to pack a gun or do any of that crazy crap like everyone else on this rock. I’m not going to live forever I’m sure there are worse ways to buy the farm like getting run over by a steamroller, have a piano fall on your head, or frozen poop from an airliner, if it’s meant to be it’s going to happen the way I look at it. Anyway that’s my UNDERPANTS and I’m sticking to them here is your blessed Scanner Reports.
