Santa Ynez Residents Use Garden Hose to Extinguish Attic Fire

County of Santa Barbara Fire Department (Edhat)

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a structure fire in Santa Ynez on Saturday evening.

At 6:21 p.m., crews arrived in the 800 block of Carriage Drive for a reported attic fire in a single-story residence.

Crews discovered the home’s occupants smelled smoke and self-evacuated. A resident used a garden hose to spray the fire in the attic, above the garage, prior to firefighters arrival.

The resident was able to knock the fire down and contain it to the attic with moderate damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  1. Very sorry to hear about the fire, but that’s pretty impressive that the resident was able to act so quickly… I’m not very educated on this situation though, so forgive me if I’m incorrect. I’m just thinking if there was moderate damage and they were able to put it out before it got any worse that’s pretty cool. Anyway, I hope everything goes the best it possibly can. <3
