Santa Maria Man Arrested on Weapons Charges

On Thursday, May 4, 2023, at about 3:00 AM, the Santa Maria Police Department (SMPD) Detective Bureau, in conjunction with the SMPD SWAT Team, served two search warrants and an arrest warrant in the City. Warrants were served at residences in the 1100 block of W. Creston Street and the 500 block of Summerhill Avenue.

As a result, 35-year-old Ulisses Ramon Guzman was taken into custody on an arrest warrant.

Guzman was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for Sales & Distribution of Firearms (including assault weapons), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Parole Violation and a Gang Enhancement.

  1. I really do not understand WHY a person like this can get away for doing so many bad things and not be put away as a “career criminal.” Not sure if he was convicted of any of the following violations/arrests, but he’s been up to no good for quite some time:
    3056 – Violation Parole: Felony
    29800(A)1 – Addict in Possession of Firearm
    30305(A)(1) – Possession Of Ammunition
    415(1) – Disturbing The Peace By Fighting
    182 – Conspiracy To Commit A Misdemeanor
    242 – Battery
    2800.2(A – Evasion – Wanton Disregard for Safety
