Santa Barbara Humane Celebrates Successful Inaugural Gala

By SB Humane

Santa Barbara Humane is thrilled to announce the tremendous success of its inaugural SB Humane Gala, which brought together 300 compassionate community members committed to the organization’s mission to help animals and the people who love them. Held at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort on September 9, this Venetian-themed event allowed supporters to connect with others who share a passion for animal welfare while learning about the organization’s ongoing initiatives.

As guests enjoyed signature cocktails, they were treated to live entertainment from aerialists and danced to the beats of The Academy band. One of the evening’s highlights was a moving keynote address by Santa Barbara Humane CEO Kerri Burns, whose powerful words resonated deeply with the audience. Burns’ message about Santa Barbara Humane’s veterinary, dog training, and adoption program was underscored by touching stories about animals helped by Santa Barbara Humane.

Another exciting element of the evening was the spirited auction conducted by Geoff Green, an accomplished emcee and auctioneer known for his engaging and dynamic style. The auction featured a range of exclusive items and experiences, most notably the introduction of an annual pet calendar where bidders won the chance to feature their companion animal in the month of their choice.

Santa Barbara Humane would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all those who attended the gala, as well as its sponsors and volunteers who contributed to the event’s success. The support received during this first major event will enable Santa Barbara Humane to continue its critical work in providing adoptions, veterinary care, and behavioral treatment for animals in need.

The gala’s success underscores the unwavering commitment of the Santa Barbara community to the welfare of animals and reinforces the importance of Santa Barbara Humane’s mission in making a positive impact on the lives of animals and people alike.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Santa Barbara Humane is the oldest animal welfare agency in Santa Barbara County, serving the community for over 135 years. The organization’s two campuses in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria provide low-cost veterinary care, affordable dog training, adoption, and socially-conscious sheltering for local animals, whether with a loving family or at the shelter waiting for a home of their own. Because Santa Barbara Humane does not receive any federal funding, it relies on donor support to help thousands of animals and families each year in Santa Barbara County.
