Caltrans District 5 has announced that the public comment period on a project to replace a reinforced concrete box culvert and pipe near US Highway 101 and Gaviota State Park will begin on Saturday, June 30.
Caltrans plans to install a new culvert near the existing one which will also include Rock Slope Protection at the outlet. The existing culvert will be sealed upon completion of the installation of the nee culvert.
Caltrans has prepared an Initial Study with a Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration which shows that the project will not adversely affect the activities, features or attributes of this area.
The public may review the Initial Study at the Caltrans District 5 Office at 50 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo weekdays from 8 am until 5 pm.
This study is also available at the Goleta Branch Library at 500 North Fairview in Goleta, the Solvang Library at 1745 Mission Drive in Solvang and online at: www.dot.ca.gov/d5/
The public may submit comments until Friday, August 3 to Caltrans Senior Environmental Planner Matt Fowler at matt.fowler@dot.ca.gov
