A search of the vehicle was performed.  During this search, officers located a loaded semi-automatic .22 caliber Sig Sauer firearm. The magazine contained ten rounds.

A significant amount of additional evidence was located and linked to possible other crimes.

Topete was booked into the county jail on numerous felonies.  Those include: possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, prior felon in possession of a firearm, other weapons charges, narcotics related charges, and gang enhancements.

  1. Don’t you folks ever get it? No one is a “criminal” until they violate the law. “Law abiding” people are thus immediately excused from the rules of a civil society because they have not as yet been discovered to be criminal. So as soon as a “criminal” is found with a gun he is outside the scope of the 2d Amendment and the remaining gun owners are excused from any culpability. We need to get guns off the streets and out of the community without regard to the classification of their status by “gun rights” apologists.
