People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has received a generous grant award of $20,000 from the County of Santa Barbara through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. This funding will benefit PSHH’s Supportive Housing Program in Santa Barbara County, which provides free onsite services to PSHH residents.

The Supportive Housing Program currently provides services to over 1,900 households in three counties through free, confidential case management from onsite service providers. The program also partners with over 70 area agencies connecting PSHH residents with local resources and area wellness programs. These programs include health screenings, counseling, mental health support, food distribution, rental assistance, wellness seminars, and more. This impactful grant will ensure continued programming and will support expanded services to PSHH residents in Santa Barbara County.

“We are so grateful for the generous partnership with the County of Santa Barbara,” said Rick Gulino, PSHH Director of Neighborhood Development & Resident Services. “This new funding will provide our residents with greater independence, access to resources, and overall support through the care of our Supportive Housing Program.”

The CDBG Program supports community development activities to build stronger and more resilient communities. To support community development, activities are identified by the County and the public through the development of the Annual Action Plan. Activities may address needs such as infrastructure, economic development projects, public facilities installation, community centers, housing rehabilitation, public services, clearance/acquisition, support services, microenterprise assistance, code enforcement, homeowner assistance, and more. The funds are awarded through local jurisdictions across the state of California.
