The Santa Barbara International Orchid Show is here with whimsical displays of flower and flora through Sunday at the Earl Warren Showgrounds.
It’s the 74th year for the country’s largest and oldest celebration of orchids with thousands of bloom ranging from white to the brightest pink and every color in between.
This annual three-day event shows its respect to a family of flowering plants that possess 25,000 species of unique beauty. With more than 50 orchid exhibitors and vendors from around the world, the Orchid show feels like you’re walking into a magical slice of horticultural Disneyland. Which is fitting because this year’s theme is “Orchid Magic” and a rather large display from our local Westerlay Orchids showcased a real-life Cinderella with a carriage and flower horse.
The 74th Santa Barbara International Orchid Show is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for three days, March 15-17, 2019, at Earl Warren Showgrounds, located in Santa Barbara at Highway 101 and Las Positas Road. General admission is $14; seniors, students with ID and advance group sales (minimum 25) are $12; and children 12 and under are free with an adult. Learn more here.
