I first saw the transient yesterday throwing a rock at a car on Yanonoli. I followed him from Yonanoli down Garden as he pummeled cars with rocks. Many didn’t know what hit them and continued on to the freeway. After calling 911 I continued to follow him as he turned down Gutierrez and sat down. He threw large stones at moving and stationary cars. Probably 15-20. I pointed him out when the police arrived.
His pockets were all full of large rocks. He was not just picking up rocks and throwing them. He had filled his pockets before going on the spree.

Police are on scene investigating vandalism to multiple vehicles on Gutierrez near Smart and Final.
Basicinfo805, Smart & Final had nothing to do with this vandalism, it’s merely being used in the post as location information for the reader. Since you stopped shopping there 15 years ago, your opinion about how things might be “nowadays” in that location aren’t relevant. Why besmirch a business based on 15 year old ideas?
A pal borrowed my car to run some errands last week and when he parked in the Smart & Final lot a threatening member of the UnHoused came up to the car and started to do an angry crazy dance. He said “At first I thought it was someone who knew you, and recognized your car, but then I realized it could not have been.” The staff inside S&F have a photo board with a long list of people who have been permanently 86’d from the store for stealing or generalized crazy behavior. It IS that kind of a ‘hood.

We need to stop pretending that our vagrant population are just down and their luck and need a hand-up. The current political approach is just denial and laziness masquerading as compassion.
