ANSWER

This appeared to be an easy one as everyone who submitted a guess got it right. This is a bust of Hans Christen Andersen located inside Solvang Park at 1630 Mission Drive in Solvang. Funny enough, the bust is not located inside Hans Christen Andersen Park for reasons we do not know.

Andersen is arguably one of the most famous Danish people and prolific fairytale writer who penned such classics as “The Little Mermaid,” “The Ugly Duckling,” “Thumbelina,” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” As we all know, Solvang is a Danish-obsessed town, therefore, it makes sense that he would be honored.

The plaque underneath the bust reads, “This monument of Hans Christian Andersen Denmark’s renowned fairy tale writer was created by Henry Luckow Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark.”
