Local Father & Son Team Pitch on Shark Tank

Mark and Kenzo Singer will appear on the hit ABC show Shark Tank on Friday evening promoting their Santa Barbara-based company, EyeWris.

Mark is a lifelong woodworker who found an increased need for reading glasses. He said he kept misplacing them and thought the only solution was to buy a bunch and store them everywhere, until a better idea formed.

“How can I bring my glasses with me, so I have them all the time? Wouldn’t it be great if I could wear them on my wrist?” Mark asked himself.

With the help of his structural engineer son, Kenzo, the duo set out to invent a pair of reading glasses that could snugly form around your wrist like a watch.

Together they invented EyeWris, foldable reading glasses that are scratch-resistant with UV protection and a blue light filter.

Mark is no stranger to entreprenurialism and invention, he’s also the founder of Gorrilla Glue. He created the company in 1994 after noticing polyurethane glue was being used for furniture assembly. Mark acquired U.S. distribution rights and primarily sold the product to wordworkers and later sold the buisness to the Lutz Tool Company.

Additionally, Mark is an award-winning furniture designer, sculptor, and master craftsman that also founded Giati Designs. His design work has been represent ed in a number of the nation’s most renowned museums, including New York’s Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

The father and son team will face off in front of the sharks with the goal of earning investors.

The episode will air on the ABC Network Friday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. for the series’ season finale. A Shark Tank promotion with discount pricing of their products is available on their website: https://eyewris.com/
