This December, Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) will be opening a new property called Heath House. Located on Sola Street, the historic building was formerly a community valued AIDS hospice but is no longer in use. Earlier this year PSHH purchased the property, with plans for an extensive restoration and rehabilitation.
“We were thrilled to have the opportunity to restore this historic property and to bring more much-needed permanent affordable housing to the city of Santa Barbara,” said Ken Trigueiro, CEO & President of PSHH. “Heath House is truly one-of-a-kind and we look forward to welcoming our new residents home in a few short weeks.”
Once complete, Heath House will provide housing for formerly homeless women in the area. The two-story, 2500 square-foot home will be comprised of seven bedrooms, five-bathrooms, multiple common areas, and a shared kitchen and dining room. PSHH will also provide onsite supportive services, including case management, counseling, education programs, and compassionate property management – all free of charge for the residents.
Over the next month, Peoples’ Self-Help Housing are looking for generous community donations to help raise $50,000 to complete the furnishings and provide kitchenware, bedding, and other household essentials for our new residents.
