Goleta Joins Central Coast Community Energy with Strong Community Enrollment

Source: City of Goleta

Enrollment for residential and commercial electricity users with our new electricity provider, Central Coast Community Energy (CCCE), began October 2021. We want to take a moment to thank our community, who has demonstrated great leadership and commitment to clean energy by maintaining an over 97% enrollment retention rate of the eligible load. Our community’s enthusiasm for sustainability and a greener Goleta both informs and inspires us to continue pushing the envelope for reducing citywide carbon emissions and improving our City’s sustainability. Once again, we thank you for investing in a greener Goleta!

If you’re new to CCCE’s enrollment and rollout, please watch our video and hear directly from Goleta Mayor Paula Perotte and Councilmember Kyle Richards on the benefits and what to expect. The video is also available in Spanish here. We hope this video helps answer questions and encourages Goleta community members to get excited about the multiple environmental and economic benefits of this transition.

Haven’t received your postcards in the mail yet? As a reminder, all Net Energy Metering (NEM) customers will be receiving their first postcard this November with details regarding the CCCE enrollment. Enrollment for customers with residential or commercial solar installations will begin in January 2022.

CCCE is continuing to host outreach and education events. Please join CCCE in the upcoming public forum webinars to learn more about CCCE service and what enrollment means for your household or business.

  1. I consider myself aggressively environmental/Green. But these alternatives are really suspect. They seem to be nothing more than aggregators or brokers who try to shop for prices and take a taste of the contract, promising to get green sourced energy but really just looking to get rich off of the public. If the PUC did its job such aftermarket programs would not be feasible and the utilities would be regulated to the public good. Doesn’t this have the feel of ENRON?

  2. I believe the current “Build Back Better” wealth transfer also includes subsidies for “green power” production, which may be the money bags driving this scheme. Once the subsidies are gone, then right back to market rate realities for “green” electricity. Kind of a Ponzi scheme -using other people’s money up front to induce sign ups. Then skeedaddle, when other people’s money runs dry. Build it and they will come applies anytime “free money” is put on the table.

  3. Exactly. I am also extremely eco. But this is nothing but PR and greenwashing. So I opted out. I’m not into fake do-nothing feel-good charades. I’m into actual environmentalism. This is just a middleman with a fancy name who profit off of ignorance and the good will of those who want to do the right thing. Con artists.
