Question & Answer (Edhat)

I live off Olive and Arrellaga Streets and for the past few nights I’ve been hearing drumming in the early to late evening hours.

It doesn’t sound like construction but more like a band or some kind of drumming circle. A friend who lives several streets closer to the water hears it too, but intermittently.

Does anyone know if there’s some kind of event that’s been happening the past few weeks? I know the Bowl is closed for the season.

  1. Could be some dude practicing in his garage. Or maybe a group of drum buddies gathered together to thump out their odes to John Bonham or Keith Moon. Or, au courant, Travis Barker. You can’t follow the vibrations to find the source? We don’t live that far from you, but all we’re hearing now at night is the romantic low-register hoots of Great-horned owls calling back and forth to one other.

    • Call SBPD. Maybe they can have it stopped. They are not busy. You can see that by the total lack of any police presence on State St. Must be a card game and some great parties at the Precinct where they obviously remain at all times.

      • I always see them taking leisurely drives up and down Cabrillo, or stopping to do little “tag ups” with their fellow leeches.

I’m not for defunding the police but how about making sure they do meaningful things with our funds like cleaning up the streets and stopping gangs instead of just publishing “this wasn’t gang related” on any crime without actually investigating ties to organized crime
