The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the child in the fatal vehicle collision as a one-year-old male from Goleta.
The Sheriff’s Office reports drugs and/or alcohol are not a factor in this collision, and the driver remained on scene. There are no pending charges.
The child’s name is Munir Delgado. An online fundriaser has been created for the family. Learn more here.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the child has succumbed to their injuries.
The release of the child’s identity is pending notification of next of kin. This is a developing story.

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a vehicle collision involving a child in Goleta Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3:00 p.m., crews responded to the first block of Nectarine Ave in Old Town Goleta with the Sheriff’s Office and a ground ambulance.
The child sustained critical injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance.
This is a developing story.

Just awful. I am so sorry for the family.
Please please don’t inject politics into these comments. The family is in grief. A kid is dead. Nothing else matters right now. There will be other times to argue about traffic, bikes, or whatever else is on your mind that can help our community thrive.
That is very tragic. Those streets in that residential area of Old Town Goleta are too narrow going in opposite direction with vehicles, dangerous for cyclists, skateboarders and very populated; plus too much parking on both sides of the streets which that is a big issue. I sure wish I had the answer to this major problem to make it better and safer for that residential area but I don’t.
yes its a bummer that street has no sidewalks and is pure chaos. the city is at fault and should pay for the families funeral since they have no signs and have failed to reduce the speed limit to 5mph in that area!!!!
think the city is at fault speed limit is way to high no matter if the driver was driving the speed limit! make the city pay !
