The 2023 Central Coast Airfest was held at the Santa Maria Airport October 14 and 15 as thousands enjoyed aerial performances.

While there were outstanding aerobatic displays involving many different types of aircraft the emphasis was on legacy aircraft from the WW2 and Korean eras with their modern military equivalents.

The WW2 planes included B-25, F4U, F8F, P-38, P-47, P-51, SBD, TBM.

The Korean era military planes included  F-86, MiG-15, MiG-17, P-80.

Foreign warbirds included Mosquito, Sea Fury, Yak.

The US Airforce and Navy demonstrated a number of modern warplanes including C-17, KC-135, F-16, F-18, F-35.

The Marines flew their amazing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor.

There was also a comedy act with a Piper J-3 and a Stearman biplane aerobatic display

The event was held in cooperation with the Planes Of Fame air museum which plans to build a new facility adjacent to the Santa Maria airport.
