Announcing Edhat’s Scanner Reporters

By edhat staff

We’re happy to announce a new initiative on edhat, our Scanner Collective!

This is a group of dedicated edhat readers and scanner enthusiasts who volunteer their time to report what’s happening throughout the county. From brush fires to high-speed chases to cats stuck in a tree, they’ll do their best to keep us informed and engaged.

As you all know, Roger the Scanner Guy took a step towards retirement earlier this year, but he’s still reporting on local news and happenings when he can. Since then we’ve had some fantastic readers and reporters step up to fill the gaps and offer their services.

Ed decided to create an official group and to introduce our readers to these new reporters. Our current scanner reporters are:

  • Roger the Scanner Guy
  • Scanner Andrew
  • RoadsTech/Tagdes
  • Monitor
  • ScannerActivist
  • 805LiveGuy

We look forward to watching our scanner community grow and thank them for their efforts to keep us all connected and informed.

If you’re interested in being part of edhat’s Scanner Collective please email us at ed@edhat.com.

  1. Yes, we could do that, but why not just NAME the code, i.e., instead of saying “459,” just say “burglary?” Why make the reader jump through hoops when you already have the information at hand? I will never understand this.

  2. Thank you Edhat and thank you to the collective scanners. Request to Ed: can you please have somebody proofread the posts so we get correct street names, and also translate cop radio code numbers into plain English. It is good to be accurately informed!
