An ambulance transporting a patient on Highway 154 was struck by a vehicle early Friday.
At 4:02 a.m., Santa Barbara County Firefighters received the call of a collision near the Windy Gap area.
When crews arrived they discovered an AMR ambulance was transporting a patient from Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital when it was side-swiped by a vehicle with two female occupants, according to Captain Scott Safechuck.
A paramedic inside the ambulance sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in a separate ambulance.
The two females in the other vehicle were not injured. It’s unclear if the patient inside the ambulance was injured.
The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
