Scanner Reports 3-5-18

By Roger the Scanner Guy

I was looking at the Easter Candy in the Rite Aide ad and saw all the usuals. I remember when I was a kid my grandmother had candy dishes sitting out all over the place all filled with Brach’s candy. That was the good stuff when we was growing up back in Hammond. Whenever I visited my grandparents I always went home with pockets full of candy, I was thinner than a whip too. Whenever I see a bag of Brach’s candy I remember the good old days of being a kid and how lucky I was to have the wonderful grandparents I did, I also remember the story of Helen Brach who owned the candy company after her husband passed away how she disappeared and was never seen or heard from again. Most likely murdered over greed by her gigolo and her houseman, the candy don’t taste so good then.

She disappeared on February the 17th 1977 after a check-up at the Mayo clinic, and declared dead in 1984. Years after she disappeared it was rumored that she was cremated in the blast furnace at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana. My grandmother’s name was Helen and my grandfather retired from Inland Steel after working there 45 years, weird he retired long before any of that happened, it’s sad that our childhood memories become corrupted with the reality of life as we age. The gigolo is still kicking by the way, in a federal prison in Florida he’s 88 years old and still trying to get out of prison as he was never convicted in the disappearance or murder of Helen Brach since her body has never been found. He was convicted of other charges involving conning the woman out of her money. Last I read he was trying to get President Trump to grant him clemency, I suspect Donald ate Brach’s candy as a kid too because as far as I know the son of a bitch is still locked up hopefully he will die there in that prison. Sad that she trusted the wrong people to work for her though since the man was her gigolo she was not quite as innocent herself maybe she knew she was playing with fire.

Will What is it about people leaving their keys in their running vehicles? How many times do Folks have to say “No that is SNOT smart you can lose your vehicle that way. It only takes a second for someone to steal a car especially if the keys are left in the ignition You know that is almost as bad as leaving valuable items in your car like a wallet, jewelry or A BUNCH OF GUNS AND OTHER WEAPONS! We all learn lessons in life NONE OF US ARE PERFECT….Some lessons we learn are harder than others….I have been thinking about running from the Sheriff, I did it once and I didn’t win. I remember once years ago I was in County Jail and Sheriff Anderson was walking past my cell I told him I voted for him he would not let me out but he smiled and waved….Anyway that is all outta me for now Have a great MONday-MONday…Peter, Belinda, Angel Baby, Pooh Bear, Midnight, Merlin, Thomisina, Clancy, Fish Head One, Poncho, Jerry, Jonathan, C.J. 1. “I have been thinking about running from the Sheriff”. Roger, you’re such a good writer, your brain’s background processor is always working! Is that a pun on the “running for sheriff” I wonder?
