Dr. Cory Bream at Costco (last I heard you don't need to be a Costco member to see her) at (805) 562-1300. She has state of the art equipment, is totally efficient and cost is reasonable.

Another yes for Dr. Bream. I don't have insurance either and found this a very reasonable place to get eye exams.

Check out America's Best (americasbest.com). Nearest office is in Ventura. Haven't used them myself, but plan to soon.

Update: I did use America's Best, and found it to be a pleasant experience. I did not get the $69.95 special, but opted for upgraded lenses (one pair tinted for sunglasses) and metal frames. Total was something over $200. So far I am happy with the results.

My wife and I just came back from exams by Dr. Waters (1A S. Milpas; Eyeglass Factory building). Can't say enough positive things about her and the experience. She’s knowledgeable, personable and took her time. She explained everything in an easily understood comforting way. Her rates are very reasonable. She's a true asset to our medical community.

I have had good service from Dr. Cory Bream but the problem there, at CostCo, is that more often than not, I've been assigned to someone other than Dr. Bream and the quality was not so good. It was always a quite rushed experience. I shall try Dr. Waters, associated with the Eye Glass Factory on the basis of 914FILM's positive statements.
