Vehicle of Missing Lompoc Man Found

Lompoc Police announced the vehicle of a missing Lompoc man has been found after he disappeared in 2017. 

Zacharey Taylor Wilks, 28, disappeared on May 24, 2017 while en route to Las Vegas from Lompoc. He was driving a black 1997 Honda Civic and did not make it to his destination. 

On Friday, October 25, 2019, Wilks vehicle was recovered off of Highway 166 in Kern County. The vehicle was involved in a traffic collision causing major damage and ended up in the dense brush off of the side of the roadway, reports the Lompoc Police Department.

There was no mention of Wilks, only that his vehicle was discovered. Lompoc Police state an ongoing investigation is underway involving multiple agencies.

Facebook group now has hundreds of members dedicated to finding Wilks. A GoFundMe page has raised over $15,000 to help with search expenses.

    So was this a recent collision, or a suspected older collision where the vehicle is only now being found? Why so vague, Lompoc PD?
