Two motorists were injured in a head-on traffic collision in Santa Ynez early Monday evening.
At 6:54 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to 2183 N. Refguio Road and discovered two vehicles with severe damage after apparently colliding head-on.
One vehicle was on fire upon arrival and crews immediately extinguished the fire before extricating the driver. There was a total of two motorists involved, one suffered minor injuries and transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The other motorist suffered critical injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by Calstar helicopter.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
