Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to an apartment fire in Old Town Goleta on Friday evening.

At 6:21 p.m., fire crews arrived at 78 Magnolia Ave and found a second story unit with two bedrooms and a bathroom fully involved in a fire. Crews found it was quickly spreading to a neighboring unit and made an aggressive attack.

Thankfully there was no one inside the unit and firefighters were able to put out the fire. The apartment is a major loss and displaced two adults and three children living inside, said Captain Dave Zaniboni. The neighboring unit sustained minor damage and displaced two people living inside.

Red Cross responded to assist the displaced families. The City of Goleta and building inspectors also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown and there were no reported injuries.
