What was that huge thud?
Alameda Park near Garden St – two palm trees had to be cut down because of a disease, according to a City Parks crew member at the scene. I live across the street and felt the ground – and my cottage – shake as each fell, prompting me to go outside and see what the heck happened.
Curious to know which disease and whether or not the crew made sure no Barn owls were nesting. Several species of birds like to nest in large palms.
Hope they are replaced pronto. A covering of trees on the planet is going to be the difference between life and death soon.
Agreed, although if the goal is to reduce the urban heat island effect some kind of shade tree would be better than another palm.
