City firefighters are on scene of a tree that is on fire on Hwy 101 northbound just north of Milpas.

Here’s a good photo of the fire last night while I waited for PD/FD to show up, taken from the backside of Tileco on Lawrence St. at about 12:45.

How could it be a homeless encampment? I thought that all of the vagrant campers had been moved to the Rose Motel at a cost of $2 million to the taxpayers.

Homeless Inc just bragged new campers are setting up in the old cleared camp sites with the intent to cause trouble, just so they too can get free housing at the Rose Garden Motel. Another massive Santa Barbara Homeless Inc fail - and so quickly. Funding "wrap around" staffers full employment should not be the only criteria for success of these failed programs. 100% elimination of vagrant camps permanently and sending a large no vacancy message to one and all is the only criteria for success.

Here in IV, since the clearing out of the People's Park encampments back in June, we've been having a lot less incidents, now the students are back, let's see how this goes.
We still have our local homeless guys like Clyde, Cave Doug, Bruce & all, the guys that were basically usurped by the crew that took over the park. They're stoked the "problem element" has been removed.
However, we're still getting some new arrivals here & there, they don't last long in the area, but in their short tenure, they make their presence known, usually needing IVFP intervention.
We were wondering why they're still showing up & my wife showed me that if you go to Google Maps & type "homeless shelter, resources & services, Isla Vista" that Anisq' Oyo Park pops up.
Basically, somebody intentionally tagged the park as such, so people are being misled to come here & then find out there's no services available.
I heard the IVRPD had that designation removed, so we may get less, but I think those working w/ the homeless should check Google Maps to see is areas of downtown/uptown have been given a similar designation. That could be the draw.
