Trash Fire in Goleta Shopping Center

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a trash fire in Goleta’s Camino Real Marketplace early Monday.

At 4:00 a.m. crews responded to 7055 Market Place Dr and discovered a trash compactor fire, approximately 10’x10’x20′, behind the Ross department store.

Ross employees arrived at the store, saw the fire, and called 911.

There’s heavy smoke damage to the stock room with light smoke thought store building, according to the fire department.

The fire was controlled in about 50 minutes and crews are actively mopping up the area. The cause is under investigation.
