Traffic Collision on Arrellaga

I live very close to this intersection and my whole family heard the crash from inside our place. We went to check on everyone and there were no injuries, thank goodness. One vehicle was in the intersection and the other was partially up on the sidewalk on Arrellaga at the corner. SCARY! I very quickly sent off an email to the city requesting a stop light AGAIN. Last time I requested one, I did receive a reply saying, in effect, that there hadn't been enough accidents there to warrant a light. Maybe now the accident count is high enough...

There is not enough traffic for a light/stop sign IMO, just pay attention and you are fine.

That is a strange response from the city. Why would an intersection change require anything, let alone reach a threshold of an arbitrary number of accidents? Is there some State law that requires every single intersection to have a traffic study and reach a certain threshold of _____ before any change can be made? I don think so... but I could be wrong. Regardless this is a classic bureaucratic CYA. A whole bunch of people unable and unwilling to make a decision... This is how our city is run mind you. Its why all the department managers need consultants to tell them how to do their job and why the city and its elected officials do NOTHING but pass the buck. Once again, this is the fundamental failure of our Mayor to lead. To manage the expectations of the people and balance the operational challenges. Its why an inept, wet noodle like Murillo is the last person you want leading a city on the brink of financial disaster.

Since Arrellaga is a freeway exit street, there is no reason in hell that there can't be a light or 4-way stop at each of the four Arrellaga intersections up to State Street. The City finally put a light in at De la Vina Street. What's the holdup with putting a light at Chapala and De la Vina? Or does someone have to be killed or maimed first?

That explains all the sirens I just heard from Garden north of the Mission, thanks Roger!
