On 8/25/2020, Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of dangerous drugs, stolen firearms, and the recovery of five fraudulently obtained vehicles. Detectives served a search warrant in the 2200 block of Professional Parkway at around 1 p.m. which resulted in the arrests of 37-year-old Donald Anderson of Santa Maria, 35-year-old Kimberly Machleit of Santa Maria, and 27-year-old Kevin Rasmussen of Tustin, CA.
As a result of the search warrant, detectives seized 605 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of heroin, sales relating packaging material and indicia related to narcotics sales, a stolen Smith and Wesson M&P15 rifle, a 30 round rifle magazine, a stolen Sig Sauer P365 handgun, a J.Stevens Arms sawed off 12-gauge shotgun, and two non-serialized 9mm handguns, referred to as “ghost guns,” and over $2,000 in cash.
Anderson, Machleit, and Rasmussen were booked at the main jail for possession of a controlled substance for sales (felony) and felon in possession of a firearm (felony). All three were released without bail pursuant to Emergency Rule 4.
Also seized during the investigation were five vehicles that were found in possession of the suspects that were fraudulently obtained using various victim’s names, birthdates, and social security numbers. The investigation into the fraud is still being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.
[UPDATE]: The individuals involved in this arrest were determined not to qualify for a no-bail release under emergency rule 4. They were all released on $35,000 bail.

They are clearing space in the jail for more dangerous criminals like the students living in isla vista. Narcotics and stolen firearms are no big deal, but if anyone tries to have a beer with their friends you better believe they are going to throw the book at them.
CHIP – Actually, they’ve done absolutely NOTHING to punish those who have been throwing parties during a pandemic. In fact, SB County just decided AGAINST any actions taken against those who repeatedly flaunt the health order and cause our kids to stay home and our friends to lose jobs. Please, give it a rest. No one is throwing anyone in jail. And I guarantee, under any other circumstances, you’d be one of the first calling the cops on a bunch of young people partying late at night in your neighborhood. Spare us the faux “support” for their right to party.
Makes me want to go out and rob a bank. A little slap on the wrist and I’m free in a couple of hours.
I feel like a lot of people are misunderstanding the zero-bail initiative? I am not in favor of it, but saying that they are just getting a slap on the wrist is not relevant to the zero-bail issue. They still will have a trial and be sentenced to punishment for the crime if they are found guilty, but they are just not being held in the county jail until that trial/until they can make bail due to the current circumstances. Don’t get me wrong, I am not in favor of zero-bail for many reasons, but saying these people are getting off scot-free without punishment is a gross misstatement of the situation.
Get them off the street, stat.

RUNNING MIKE – You may want to look up how our criminal process works. Do you honestly think people are no longer being charged and tried for their crimes? Might want to do a little reading up on that bud.
But first you are going have to find them. Good luck with them showing up on their own.

BUMBLEBEE – why would people out now be anymore likely to flee than any other time? You run, you go to jail longer when they DO catch you. Give cops some credit, they’re not as bumbling as you guys all make them out to be. Surprising too, since all you anti-Newsom (ie Republicans) are so gung ho about “backing the blue.” Choose a side.
Easy to hide among 44 million people just in this one state – look how long it took to track down the Golden State Killer.
Violent felons released without bail? What’s going on?
Released with zero bail?!?! Way to go County! You don’t want these felons to get COVID-19 in the jail, but it’s acceptable to put the public at risk by not incarcerating these drug dealing/gun stealing/car stealing/identity stealing dirtbags?!?! You can forcibly shut down gyms but can’t incarcerate felons? The County should just do what the gyms, churches and nail salons are doing, and just ignore/defy the Governor’s orders by incarcerating people like this for the safety of the public.
They would be more likely to run because many times, to be able to get a certain bond, you might have to put up some colateral, i.e., their house. With no bail, there is no incentive for them to show up.
With no bail, there’s no surety.
