I took a couple of photos of the Oregon Firefighters who were protecting Shepard Mesa area in Carpinteria foothills.  They said that it took 19 hours to drive down. I gave them a warm handshake and big thanks for helping to save our hilltop community.

I drove into carp during the first few days to help a friend check on his property and I saw quite a few volunteer firefighters from out of state as well with nice trucks. A few from North Texas with their pickups converted into flatbed with tanks and hoses. Nice work to all who came here to help!

Does anyone know why there's a black bar through the logo on their door? I also saw that on a Santa Barbara truck. Might it be in remembrance of our lost firefighter Cory?

Yes, the black bar is in honour of the fallen firefighter, Cory. So thankful for these brave men and women!

Letters to the Editor of local papers in states where firefighters came from might be nice. There were a number of tough firefighters from Missoula, Montana. Their newspaper in Missoula is the Missoulian. For Oregon, try Portland's Oregonian newspaper. We can all tell the hometowns that they have brave firefighters who didn't let the fire win.
