Caltrans reports a temporary traffic signal is at Highway 1 and Jalama Road due to a partial roadway washout.

On February 25, edhat reported a stretch of highway between Santa Rosa and Jalama Roads had caved in due to the recent rainstorms.

Caltrans shut down the highway for a period of time and opened up one-way traffic control. Motorists were expected to encounter at least 20 minutes of delay in this section.

As of March 9, Caltrans announced a new temporary signal installed near the Highway 1 washout , about one-half mile north of Jalama Road in Lompoc.

With this new signal, traffic delays are not expected to exceed 5 minutes.

Construction on the road washout is ongoing with no estimated time of completion.
