Suspects Arrested for Discharging a Firearm in Isla Vista

On Sunday, October 18, 2020 at approximately 1:56 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Camino Del Sur and Del Playa for a report of suspects who were shooting a firearm towards the ocean. While deputies were heading to the area, the suspects reportedly left the area in a white Corvette with a black spoiler. Deputies located the vehicle within five minutes in the area of El Colegio Road at Ocean Road.

Deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop of the vehicle while addition units, including a Sheriff’s K-9 and UCSB PD Officers responded to assist. The vehicle was occupied by two suspects who both refused to exit the vehicle. Deputies and officers held their positions for over 50 minutes until the subjects ultimately surrendered and were taken into custody. Deputies recovered a handgun and ammunition from the vehicle that was later towed from the scene.

22-year-old Brayan Aguilar-Jimenez of Goleta was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm (felony), failure to obey a peace officer (misdemeanor), resisting arrest (misdemeanor), driving under the influence of alcohol (misdemeanor), conspiracy (felony), and possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor). 25-year-old Raul Cortes of Fresno was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm (felony), failure to obey a peace officer (misdemeanor), resisting arrest (misdemeanor), conspiracy (felony), and possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor). Both suspects were booked at the Main Jail and later released on $35,000 bail each.

Monique Limone our assembly member is female. Hannah-Beth Jackson our CA state Senator is female. How about our US Senator’s and Congress representative’s? Current government is not using existing laws and keeping criminals off the streets.
